One of the first followers of St. Francis, she founded the order of the Poor Clares and spent 42 years at the convent of Saint Damian, the same place where St. Francis received his call from God. Approved a few days before her death, the rule of St. Clare was the very first in the history of Christianity to have been written by a woman.
